How it works

This page explains how the process works. We have developed this process to make plastic pots but it could be adapted to make a range of other items.

We have made a short video that gives a very brief overview of the process. We have sped up parts of this video to keep it brief you can view the video opposite:



We have also produced a more detailed version of the short video above, this version is a little less than 10 minutes long, but includes discussion of the process in more detail.


The process is designed to work with a wide range of plastic types:

  • Low density polyethylene (LDPE 4)
  • High density polyethylene (HDPE 2)
  • Polystyrene (PS 6)
  • Polypropylene (PP 5)
  • Polycarbonate
Items that are normally made of these materials include (listed in the same order):
  • Carrier bags
  • Milk bottles, shampoo bottles
  • CD cases, cups
  • Margarine tubs, cream pots
  • CDs
